The brief

Evac was engaged to attend to a reported water leak at the front boundary of a property. The leak was suspected to be a burst pipe, with water continuously running into the storm drain. Initial investigations involved determining the responsibility for the repair, followed by executing a comprehensive repair plan to resolve the issue effectively.

How we delivered

Initial Investigation and Temporary repair

  • We attended within an hour of report to assess the reported leak
  • Investigated the source of the leak to determine responsibility.
  • It was later confirmed that the leak was on a private main and was significantly eroding dirt under the driveway
  • We conducted a temporary repair to mitigate immediate risks

Permanent Repair works

  • Repairs commenced a few days later by excavation of the affected area
  • Cut and removed concrete to access the 100mm water service
  • Shut down the water main and repaired the identified leak
  • Tested for additional leaks - all passed
  • Backfilled and compacted the area to restore in working conditions
  • Site clean-up and removal of all debris

Secondary Water Leak on Fire Services

  • We identified a secondary leak on the 100mm fire main at a rubber joint.
  • Excavated the right-hand side of the driveway to locate the leak
  • Found the issue on a 100mm blue Bruit water main where a pipe had slipped out of rubber ring bell
  • Cut of the damaged section and installed two vari-gib joints with a new section of blue Bruit pipe
  • Tested new pipe work for leaks - all passed
  • Backfilled the excavation site with crusher dust
  • Final site clean-up and restoration to working conditions
